The Best Things To Do on 30A

Roll down the windows and breathe in the salt air — you’ve made it to the beach! 30A offers endless ways to spend your time, regardless of where your interests lie. From stunning natural beauty to culinary delights, the Emerald Coast has something for everyone.

With so much to do, where to start? We’ve compiled a list of our favorite activities in the region with the help of 30A Distilling Co Founder, Brian Rabon. A lifetime visitor to the beaches of 30A, Brian has called Santa Rosa Beach home since 2015. Jump in and experience 30A like a local!

At 30A Distilling Co, we’re capturing the spirit of the beach in a bottle. We create premium spirits from distinctly Southern ingredients. Our home is the inspiration behind all we do, and we can’t wait to share 30A with y’all.

Paddle Board on Western Lake

One of the natural wonders of 30A is the coastal dune lake, a geologic feature created by wind and sand that features a combination of both fresh and saltwater. While common in the region, they are rare in the rest of the world! Our favorite, Western Lake, stretches between Grayton Beach and Watercolor. The shallow, 214 acre lake is a stunning oasis that is friendly to both solo travelers and families. We recommend renting a paddle board and slowly working your way around the lake. Other popular activities here include swimming, kayaking, and fishing!

Discover 30A’s Art Community

Scenic HWY 30A has always been a haven for creatives inspired by the beauty of the Gulf Coast. Artists thrive along the beach, with events like Artwalks and Festivals throughout the year. Plug into the arts by visiting local galleries! For highly textural and vibrant paintings, check out Justin Gaffrey Gallery in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Looking to take home a piece the captures the ocean? Stop by Fusion Art Glass in Seaside, FL for a vast collection of gorgeous glass works.

Snorkel at Turtle Snorkel Reef

With pristine white sand and turquoise water, South Walton beaches look straight out of a postcard. They are a prime destination for snorkelers, thanks to the innovations of the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. Man made reefs offer diverse habitats for marine animals and provide surreal recreational opportunities. Turtle Reef is our favorite of the four artificial reefs in the Gulf, located just off the shore in Grayton Beach State Park. Established in 2015, Turtle Reef is flourishing with life.

Eat Your Way Through 30A

Everyone’s favorite part of vacation is eating whatever your heart desires! From fine dining to beach side snacks, any foodie will be thrilled by the amount of offerings found on 30A. Planning a lovely dinner out? Try Roux 30A in Santa Rosa Beach for an upscale meal made with fresh local ingredients. HWY 98 Bar-B-Que is not to be missed for a true Southern feast, and don’t forget to chase everything down with a cone from Blue Mountain Creamery
